Best aspect
Me. Arrais is a fantastic teacher. Miss Emily as well. Guest teachers included a dancer from Roayal Ballet. The area is very nice. The flooring is great. The teachers are very dedicated, kind, and supportive.
really great classes; faculty great; very full day of dancing
The teachers truly care about the students and want them to succeed. They want to be involved in the work and find a balance between pushing them and building their confidence.
The faculty is very involved and interested in student growth. We were given proper attention when possible and pushed well without confidence being sacrificed. The faculty seems to care about teaching students to care for themselves both balletically and personally.
Guest teachers depending on the week.
-daily pointe class, guest artists, variations
The amazing guest faculty from The Dutch National Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Royal Ballet, and Boston Ballet.
The faculty is amazing
I absolutely loved the diverse range of techniques, repertoire, and methodologies to which students were exposed, as well as the positive environment which fostered the growth of the whole dancer and person.
Small class sizes, excellent and personalized technique teaching, and excellent list of guest faculty - also the ability to work a little bit in a technique that was new to my daughter (Bournonville). The teachers are all very passionate and radiate joy!
Least liked about program
Cost is high. Would like to see contemporary and partnering offered. At the demonstration at the end of the intensive, the year round students performed their competition variations for some reason.
No partnering or contemporary. But the school is young still.
I would like to have contemporary offered

I did not dislike anything about the Arrais Ballet Summer Intensive!
most kids were from Needham or the Boston area - my dancer was the only one who wasn't
Suggested changes to program
Cost. Number of classes offered. Add Partnering.
add housing + social events
I have no complaints. I loved it!
The building is lovely but no central air. The studios can become warm when it is above 85 degrees outside. They did encourage breaks and hydration throughout the day.
Housing for out of state dancers

There was a wide range of ability in my daughter's group (ages 12-14) - I wish they could have split this group into two groups, but there were only 9 kids, so that wouldn't have made sense
Culture of program
Positive, supportive, teachers. Excellent training. Some favoritism of staff member’s dancers.
positive & welcoming
Extremely supportive with healthy competition. No one was against anyone
Super supportive. No unhealthy competition.
The intensive was a supportive environment for my dancer.
Very safe, warm, and inviting environment. As with their year-round program, this school is truly a rare find. Not only do they challenge the dancers technically, but they also support individual growth. Students are welcoming, encouraging, and respectful of each other. Very healthy environment for young dancers. As a parent, I witnessed many new friendships develop.

Friendly, welcoming, positive, environment with exceptional training
The culture at Arrais Ballet is beyond wonderful-- it was so amazing to train in an environment which promotes hard work and passion for the art form of dance, alongside kindness and support for each other!
positive, uplifting, and for the serious student - everyone was really enjoying the intensive
Other comments
.Recommend for the training. Caring teachers. Flexible options to attend different weeks.
The flexibility of taking one week at a time worked great to be able to take before and after other intensives. Excellent training at this intensive.
I think students can learn very valuable skills here. I learned how important cross training is and what type of cross training works well for me. I learned what methods work for me to perform to my very best. This school is special
This is our daughter’s second summer intensive at Arrais Ballet. Again, it was an incredible experience! It was a perfect blend of discipline and encouragement. The faculty pushed our dancer to reach her full potential with grace and artistry. She did attend another large 2-week summer program and felt her classes were more rigorous at Arrais with more individualized attention given the smaller class sizes. She will continue to make Arrais Ballet part of her summer training in years to come.
I have been a student since the beginning and this school has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. It really does get better and better every year and it has been so wonderful to have been a part of it all. The teachers that Paulo brings in and the opportunities for the students here are incredible and he is really what makes the program so special.
The summer intensive at Arrais Ballet is exceptional. The training is outstanding. There are 6 hours of classes offered each day (2.5 on Saturday), plus Pilates almost every day, and the guest teachers are from well-known ballet companies and schools from around the world. This year’s guest faculty included dancers and teachers from Dutch National Ballet School, Royal Danish Ballet, and Royal Ballet. Highly, highly recommend this intensive to dancers of all ages.
Arrais Ballet offers an incredible SI program. I wish my daughter would have had trhe space in her schedule to do more than one week. They will need to offer housing to better attract dancers from all over the United States.
