Overall recommendation

Best aspect

  • Learning large amounts of choreography and working alongside company dancers
  • BalletMet was friendly and learning dances was fun.
  • getting to learn the rep from the company and getting to have the company experience. dancing alongside some of the company members during class was also very nice
  • We get the opportunity to learn repertoire the company has done in the past. As well as experiencing what a day in a professional company may look like.

Least liked about program

  • That groups were based on age.
  • The marketing made it seem like they would work with Edwaard but didn’t. Also, communication was not gre to the point we had to keep changing flights unsure of when the program would actually end.
  • the students that had been there all summer or trained there year round got casting preference and the same students got the featured roles in every piece
  • The teachers favor the academy students both in class and in casting decisions.

Suggested changes to program

  • Make it a 2 week program.
  • Be clear Edwaard wouldn’t be part of this week.
  • have each rehearsal group learn different pieces of rep
  • I would like there to be less favoritism and 1 more repertoire. Last year we learned 5 where as this year we only learned 4.

Culture of program

  • Very positive and supportive.
  • Friendly and fun
  • pretty supportive, the year round and full summer students kind of clung together which made making friends a little hard
  • It was ok. It’s difficult when there is obvious favoritism plus with it only being a week nobody gets super close with each other.

Other comments

  • Runs Sunday through Thursday with observation Friday morning of all choreo learned that week. Dancers keep same schedule as company dancers do in a regular basis.
