Housing comment

  • My daughter roomed with a friend from home, but roommate information was provided before arrival so the dancers could contact each other before meeting.
  • You can room with 2 or 3 girls.
  • Beautiful dorms, excellent common area

Favorite

  • Duck boat ride around Boston
  • Circus de Oila
  • Lake Canobie Amusement Park
  • Aquarium, Boston Ballet HQ
  • Canobie Lark Park

Least favorite

  • none, all were good. The aquarium was a little boring, but still enjoyable.
  • None all were great, but it was not an option to not go unless you picked up your child and brought them back at the end of the weekend.
  • n/a - they were part of the program (no opt out) and my dancer enjoyed all of them

General Comments

Overall recommendation

Definitely Not
5
Absolutely

Best aspect

  • My daughter loved the teachers, dorm life and meeting other dancers.
  • Great for younger age lots off supervision
  • The teachers were top notch and all of the dancers attending the program were very motivated and friendly.
  • Character offering, contemporary teacher was top notch, campus and dorm amazing
  • Well-rounded, high-caliber program for young dancers; gorgeous facilities at Walnut Hill; excellent faculty and RAs; strong programming for residential students

Least liked about program

  • My daughter is a picky eater and didn't love the food. I sent snacks so she had things on hand.
  • No break the schedule was breakfast than class than lunch than class than dinner
  • Little corrections, cancelled Chinese fan dance
  • The lower levels seemed to have some unfocused students (maybe more of a summer camp vibe?) who were commuting

Suggested changes to program

  • My daughter would have stayed longer if that had been an option
  • More corrections, allowing 2 sessions instead of 1

Culture of program

  • Welcoming and age appropriate for a first intensive while still being technically challenging.
  • Very positive and inclusive.
  • Fun, safe, and gentle
  • Warm, joyful, dedicated

Other comments

  • For ages 9-13 can board or dorm
  • A perfect first dorming experience for my nine year old. Kudos to BB for the care they took with these young dancers.
