General Comments

Overall recommendation:

Definitely NotAbsolutely

Best aspect:

This is a rep program where Danish teachers come and teach Bournonville class every morning, teach variations, and spend the afternoon setting and rehearsing rep for the final performance. It was an amazing performance that featured a first act "workshop" with larger groups of students in practice clothes showing the variations they had learned, with a pianist. After intermission, the students presented a full, costumed Bournonville ballet with a live orchestra. This year they did "Konservatoriet." Truly impressive quality for such a short time and incredible opportunity to learn directly from Royal Danish Ballet dancers.

Least liked about program:

Some uncertainty each day about the schedule, end times, who was rehearsing where, and so on.

Suggested changes to program:

A little more up front communication about how the week would go.

Culture of program:

Friendly and focused. Older dancers who had participated before were very encouraging and kind to the youngest. Instructors were patient and very hard working to get everyone performance ready and the students were all in!

Other comments:

Probably the only workshop or intensive on the US to focus exclusively on the Bournonville technique and repertoire.
