Best aspect

  • "Working with all the guest teachers helped with learning different styles of ballet and growing in technique. I appreciated the knowledge and experiences of the guest teachers. I remember Ms Bashkatova helped me to understand that the hand is part of the whole body, and I used that going forward."
  • "Incredible guest Faculty (Bashkatova, Sarabia, Borisova, Kinerbayev, Krushka) and attending with the other highly focused and dedicated students made my dancer feel like she was in a community with shared dreams."
  • "Nothing"
  • "Great quality ballet training!"
  • "Small program with high quality training"

Least liked about program

  • "nothing"
  • "So toxic. Abuse, body shaming, toxic culture. Caused me to develop PTSD."
  • "No complaints!"

Suggested changes to program

  • "I would love to take more modern classes during the summer intensive in addition to the contemporary ones offered. Ballet-focused dancers can get a full range of styles and expand themselves. Modern can feel awkward for classical ballet dancers, but DCSA creates a safe space to try things. Plus everyone is friendly and no-one is judging you."
  • "Put them out of business"

Culture of program

  • "a family. You get really close to the people you are taking classes with. It's nice to come in and see those friendly faces as you're taking class."
  • "A place for any dancer at any level who is committed to the process to improve and values highly insightful guest teacher insight."
  • "The worst."
  • "I attended the Winter Intensive. There were helpful, experienced, supportive teachers who provided great feedback and corrections for everyone."
  • "Friendly but focused"

Other comments

  • "I was thrilled with the growth I experienced during the summer. The students are also great and have become my friends. I also love the teachers! They helped me grow as a dancer and a person."
  • "All the dancers here are really open and supportive to one another!!"
  • "Do not go here."
  • "Really welcoming staff and dancers"
