General Comments

Overall recommendation

Definitely Not

Best aspect

  • Being able to learn the European repertoire that is not available typically in the US. (Forsythe, Dawson, Montero, Bournonville, Cecchetti)
  • The differing styles of classes being taught.

Least liked about program

  • The curfew was way too early, communication throughout the summer was sketchy, the food that was offered was not what dancers really should be eating, the dorms were gross. students had to walk about 15 minutes in 100+ degree heat. Cross training wasn't offered either during the intensive.
  • Having technique class on pointe as the first class of day (only one day out of the whole week).

Suggested changes to program

  • I would add some type of cross-training/injury prevention to ensure dancers safety. I would also love if they added a portable sprung floor. The floors in the studios were not 100% sprung and we could feel it was hard on our joints which did lead to some injuries for some of the dancers.
  • Don't do it in Las Vegas in the summer. It was way too hot and students had to walk 15 min between studios sometimes multiple times per day in the 110 + degree heat.

Culture of program

  • It was a very nice environment. The teachers were very engaging and the kids were all very nice. The culture was very serious and the teachers did push us and challenge us during the intensive which I really enjoyed.
  • Some of the students were a little catty, all of the faculty were very welcoming and nuturing.

Other comments

  • Overall I learned a lot! I would recommend this intensive because it is good training and you will gain experience in repertoire that usually can't be found in the US, and it's very beneficial to your skill set as a dancer.:)
