Housing comment

  • It was a large townhouse in a beautiful community. There were 9 dancers and the house mom that lived there. There were lots of amenities and lots of shops and restaurants that you could walk to without supervision. If you ever need to go to a store outside the complex, you just have to ask and the house mom will take you. The house mom was amazing and was so great about accommodating for my food allergies.

Overall recommendation

Best aspect

  • Small size, very individualized correction
  • Small individualized, positive environment
  • Excellent training and teachers. Beautiful area.
  • personal attention
  • Small class sizes
  • Focusing on details of technique according to the Vaganova syllabus
  • Challenging and supportive program
  • Working with highly trained teachers and being challenged. Also really liked partnering.
  • I liked having fewer higher quality classes that were longer. It was much better than other intensives that cram a lot of shorter classes. Loved having the freedom after class at the townhouse to hang out and relax. It wasn’t over scheduled.
  • The welcoming environment and high quality of year round and guest teachers.

Least liked about program

  • Nothing
  • Nothing
  • Could have had more communication prior to and during the intensive.
  • lack of other organized activities
  • Level placement. New students placed in lower level b/c their own dancers take up the more advanced level. Dancer danced with students who were young (pre-pointe) Dancer did ask and was moved up to a more advanced level for technique only for the second week.
  • Studios were a little crowded, would have liked to have contemporary classes at least 1x per week.
  • Nothing, I loved it!
  • I would love to have contemporary classes!

Suggested changes to program

  • Nothing
  • Nothing really
  • Level placement classes
  • I would add a contemporary class and I wish there was more partnering, but there is a separate intensive at the same location a few weeks later just for boys, so more attend then. (BBSI)
  • Add contemporary classes with improv would be great!

Culture of program

  • Very friendly teachers and administrators are nurturing as well.
  • Positive, kind or a dancer is released
  • Challenging but nurturing
  • supportive but demanding instruction
  • Friendly and supportive of any concerns.
  • Challenging, passionate, healthy, meanness/bullying absolutely NOT tolerated
  • Very focused with kind staff and teachers
  • Very supportive! There was no negativity at all. They were great about supporting injuries too.
  • Very welcoming with excellent training.

Other comments

  • There are 3 studios - dancers switch levels based on abilities - my son’s technique level was strong but temporarily needed to partner at a lower level. All instructors talk with each to give each student individual attention. Great improvement. Also great at building confidence.
  • Great for individualized attention, intense Vaganova technique classes. The best intensive my son has attended for improving technique. The P.T. available is very well qualified. The atmosphere is warm and caring instructors and administrators. Must be kind or the dancer is removed. Very well priced.
  • It’s very small so some of these questions didn’t seem to apply (security, etc) but it’s a great program. Housing is super limited and was not available for us at the time.
  • Good quality instruction.
  • Proper partnering techniques taught, shared, emphasized, and valued
  • If you are looking for great Vagonova training, this is a great place to try.
  • The teachers were wonderful and extremely supportive!
