Best aspect

  • Funal performance st the Wolf Trap Theatre in the Woods.
  • Students in Festival (levels 3-5 and occasionally level 6) get to perform an original ballet (created and choreographed in five weeks, with new costumes designed) at Wolf Trap. This year was The Little Mermaid and it was wonderful. Festival students also perform in studio for families. Level 5 did a Flameno number and Levels 3&4 performed jazz. It is remarkable what they learned in 5 weeks. There are also 1-4 week intensives that offer additional classes whilst Festival kids are rehearsing. My child has attended the Festival the past two summers.
  • Performance at Wolftrapp
  • The show at the end, all of the costumes were new and made onsite for the individual dancers

Least liked about program

  • No partnering
  • We were happy with everything this year. My dancer hd no complaints except that she wishes it were even longer than five weeks!
  • Performance sold out very quickly
  • Nothing

Suggested changes to program

  • Nothing this year. For the regular intensives, additional classes like African and Hip-Hop have been included and my dancer did not enjoy those (when she did the four-week SI three summers ago). She is much more focused on ballet, so she especially loved the variations class this year and all the pointe classes.
  • Nothing
  • Have your family buy tickets early, the performance sold out quick

Culture of program

  • Very positive atmoshpere
  • Very warm and welcoming. The kids worked hard, but had a lot of fun, too. It is our regular studio and my dancer formed close bonds with the other students.
  • Fun , welcoming, serious when it came to ballet technique

Other comments

  • MYB is a wonderful ballet school with top-notch faculty and training. My dancer has grown tremendously there.
  • Great program , my daughter improved so much in her pointe work over this summer especially being part of the performance at the end. Fully recommend!
  • She had so much fun, performance was amazing , this intensive did exactly what it was supposed to, her overall technique significantly improved over the 5 weeks along with her love of ballet. Great preparation heading into advance pointe this fall.
