Housing comment

  • Most students were not able to do laundry because there were not enough machines. After the first friday, we were told we couldn't even sign up to be on a waitlist anymore. Also, since there was no ac, we had to open the windows to keep the room from being too hot, and there were a lot of bugs that got in.

Overall recommendation

Definitely Not

Absolutely

Best aspect

  • amazing opportunity with first class teaching
  • very high level of students and faculity
  • Working with the teachers, especially for variations that they had danced.
  • experiencing a different technique
  • The intensity of the training.

Least liked about program

  • The surrounding areas around the Paris Opera Ballet school are not very desirable. not quite the part of Paris that people might think when they think of Paris .
  • the food
  • They did not have any vegan options for food.
  • the communications came later than what I am used to for American programs
  • The food
  • Very little communication, some parents didn’t receive email communications, especially for the presentation.

Suggested changes to program

  • Air conditioning
  • more options for dietary restrictions
  • Less contemporary and jazz so there could be more variations and pas de deux.
  • Better food
  • Better communication

Culture of program

  • very strict full of protocol
  • fun
  • Everyone was pretty friendly, and the classes were challenging, but not much harder than my pre professional year round program.
  • Harsh

Other comments

  • my daughter says it was the most rigorous intensive she has ever attended
  • For the younger levels, having a basic understanding of French is essential.
