  • "dancers split between two dorms; LARGE campus and FAR studios; RAs (inside information) were not trained and were just and lost as dancers concerning handbook and policies"
  • "There were two separate dorms. Older kids 15 and up + young kids with a parent staying in the dorms with them were in the further away dorm. The other dorm was mostly all the 13 to 9 year olds in that dorm closest to the cafeteria where we ate all our meals. The father away dorm needed more knowledgable staff. Plus, it was not as nice as the closer one. They also did not have university staff in the lobby to help us like the other one had."
  • "It was between two dorms and was severely understaffed and disorganized. Parents were allowed to stay on campus which was concerning and sort of awkward to navigate, many students seemed far too young to be allowed to stay in the dorms and made the housing complicated, and many of the few RAs were the same age as students (also strange…)."

  • "There was only one, and it was on our only day off to try and see Las Vegas. But we did get to see Cirque de Soleil and that was amazing!"

All while missing contemporary class. The walk took a full 12 minutes each way in the heat. I think that could have been planned out better."
  • "It was entirely understaffed and, as this was the first year, many bugs and confusions had to be worked out as the intensive progressed which was difficult for the students to navigate."

The spaced-out nature of the university campus did not lend itself to a simple transportation system but if all residents stayed in the same dorm and all dancers only used a singular dance facility, it would be much easier on everyone involved in the program."

  • "I think next year will be better, since this was the first one. Also, the main dorm was under construction. So next year, If we were able to all be in the same dorm without kids it will be more fun. The classes were fantastic!"
  • "I would not recommend it if your student is younger than 12 and needs to stay in the dorms. If you can stay near campus and transport your student, regardless of age, that would be a preferable situation. It had some small opportunity to work hands-on with renowned coaches and judges, but unless you pay extra for private coaching sessions, students essentially received a slightly inconvenient short-term intensive in 100+ degree heat."
