Overall recommendation

Best aspect

  • "It was a very unique program in a company-like setting. A 1.5 hr technique class daily, followed by 4, 1.5 hr rehearsals for 4 different pieces of Edwaard Liang’s rep (classical, Balanchine, contemporary, and contemporary ballet pieces). 9 am to 6 pm, Mon-Fri. Long but incredible days that my dancer LOVED."
  • "Diversity of rep taught. The show at the end was nice too."

Least liked about program

  • "Studios were a little hot (it was a 95+ degree DC week)."
  • "Not at all as advertised. The students do company rep, but Edwaard Liang was mostly absent. He didn't teach any classes - either technique or rep. Showed up occasionally to watch, but not for any significant time. According to my child, he didn't seem interested in any of the students from a recruiting standpoint and therefore didn't spend much time there. Classes and rehearsals led by other company and school personnel."

Suggested changes to program

  • "Nothing!!"
  • "The program was ok, but it's advertised (including by school representatives on this podcast) as having heavy involvement by the artistic director. This just isn't true."

Culture of program

  • "Perfect for hardworking, advanced, serious dancers who want a great challenge."
  • "Culture was welcoming and inclusive."

Other comments

  • "Can’t wait to return !"
  • "Don't go here if you're hoping for time in front of the director or for it to turn into a full year offer at any level."
