Curriculum Comments

  • "we start the day always with ballet technique, followed by either pointe technique, repertoire, character or contemporary that usually rotates during the week During the week we also have stretching, floor barre and strengthening classes"
  • "Everyday we take technique class for at least two hours, sometimes more, depending on the necessities of the students. Some days before technique there’s half an hour of guided warmup. After that there’s either pointe class, repertorie, contemporary or contemporary class, normally the combination of different classes like the ones mentioned before were about 2-3 hours. After this some days included an extensions/stretching/massaging class."
  • "At ballet Delart the focus is on placement, alignment and building a strong technical foundation. The classes don’t follow a specific curriculum but are inspired by the different styles- Royal, Vaganova… We have ballet classes daily, sometimes warmup beforehand that is specifically design for us to feel the inner muscles required in ballet. We have repertoire on a regular basis, rehearsals for our productions and variations. Pointe classes and character weekly, as well as coordination and contemporary."
  • "I have to say that here, at Ballet Del’Art, I experienced the most creative and technically developing ballet classes in my life! Our days usually look like this: Warm up, ballet class, a little break, to catch your breath and eat something, then we have character/ contemporary or pointe class. After that we either stretch or have rehearsals. And on some days we also have massage or extensions class. To help our body release and improve faster."
  • "None"
  • "The program is very unique, focused on use of correct muscles, correct alignment, understanding the technique and feeling your body. There is a ballet class every day with many details that you won't get anywhere else. Then we have another class (pointe, character, contemporary, etc.) and then rehearsal."
  • "Ballet class Pointe class Repertoire/character dances/modern dance/pas de deux/stretch- and conditioning class"

How Were Corrections Given?

10

Description of Partnering Class

  • "The classes usually start from the basics, to give the opportunity to everyone to understand and apply corrections and excersices, and moving gradually to more complex combinations the excersices are always demonstrated fully by the two teachers and afterwards each couple get personal attention and correction to be able to fix and improve"
  • "Partnering class consisted in either exercises to build the technique such as promenades, balance, turns and jumps, or in repertorie from the company"
  • "Ballet Delart doesn’t have many partnering classes, but when we have performances we work more frequently on partnering technique. The way the classes are designed, they support the development of the overall technique which makes it easier when we have pas de duex."
  • "We work a lot on how to coordinate and feel each other in the movement. We go a lot in the details of what muscles a girl and a boy has to use, to make it easier to dance together."
  • "Learning basic partnering and excerpts from repertoire"
  • "Very detailed!"
  • "Focusing again on correct use of muscles and doing everything functionally, so that later we can express through our dancing."
  • "Learning basics of pas de deux technique through exercises as well as excerpts from repertoire."
  • "Learning pas de deux technique through exercises and excerpts from repertoire"

Additional Comments

  • "We switch partners constantly which helps to understand how to become more versatile rather being only comfortable to work with a certain partner."
  • "I have to make an important note here: Attention was paid to each couple and corrections were given very detailed."
